BlowOut, developed by Terminal Reality and published by Majesco Entertainment, arrived on Xbox in 2003 as a pure third-person action shooter, with an exaggerated arsenal and alien enemies as the main threat. The studio, known for the BloodRayne saga, changed gears to bet on a tone closer to eighties action cinema.
Its fast pace and lighthearted humor won over a certain audience, though technically it failed to stand out in a genre already saturated with similar offerings, and it ended up passing largely unnoticed in the console's catalog.
