Conflict: Global Terror is the fourth entry in the tactical shooter series developed by the British studio Pivotal Games, which this time abandons a single historical setting to take the squad to different hot spots around the contemporary world. It keeps the usual formula: a small group of elite soldiers, individual real-time orders, and missions that reward coordination over indiscriminate shooting.
The shift in focus toward international terrorism, rather than a specific war conflict, reflected the geopolitical climate of the mid-2000s, with several shooters of the era adopting similar themes. For those who had followed the series since the original Desert Storm, Global Terror was more of a twist than a reinvention, sustaining the tactical identity Pivotal Games had built title after title.
