Conflict: Vietnam is the third entry in the tactical shooter series developed by the British studio Pivotal Games, set during the Vietnam War. It keeps the small-squad, real-time-orders structure of its predecessors, but moves the action to the jungle, with ambushes, reduced visibility, and a different pace than the desert settings of the first two entries.
The change of setting forced the level design to shift toward tighter, more vertical spaces, consistent with the kind of combat that characterized that conflict. For the Conflict series, it was a way to diversify its identity without abandoning the tactical foundation that set it apart from the more pure-action-oriented military shooters of those years.
