Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball is a spin-off of the Dead or Alive fighting series, developed by Team Ninja and published by Tecmo in 2003 exclusively for Xbox. It completely drops combat to place the original game's fighters on a vacation island, where beach volleyball coexists with minigames, a casino, and a gift-giving system between characters.
The project, driven by Tomonobu Itagaki, became one of the console's most talked-about titles for its almost entirely aesthetic focus, and at the same time a case study in how a spin-off without its franchise's core mechanic could stand on its own. It had its own sequels in later Xbox generations.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
