Team Ninja developed Dead or Alive 3, and Tecmo published it as an Xbox launch title in November 2001. It carried on the series' strikes-throws-and-counters combat system, added new characters — including Hitomi, Brad Wong and Christie — and reworked Ein, previously an amnesiac ninja, now revealed as the leader Hayate.
Its visual presentation, with destructible stages and animation that was remarkably detailed for its time, served as a technical showcase for Microsoft's new console. It sold more than two million copies, became the franchise's best-selling title up to that point, and ranked among the ten best-selling Xbox games.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
