Heroes of the Pacific proposed an aerial combat simulator set in the World War II Pacific Theater, starting with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and following the story of fictional pilot William Crowe in his quest for revenge after losing his brother in that attack. It was developed by Australian studio IR Gurus -later renamed Transmission Games- and published by Ubisoft in 2005 for Windows, PlayStation 2, and Xbox.
Much of the team came from working together at Melbourne House on titles like Test Drive: Le Mans, and that prior experience in vehicle simulation showed in a game that favored the feeling of flight over the unbridled arcade action of other war titles on the console.
