Cleopatra Fortune was first born in 1995 as a downloadable game for a Taito home karaoke console and came to arcades the following year, developed together with Natsume. The mechanic resembles Tetris but with a twist: you must guide stone, mummy, or treasure blocks to close geometric figures, which disappear from the board and add points, while complete rows of the same type are also cleared.
It got an arcade sequel, Cleopatra Fortune Plus, already on Sega NAOMI hardware, and over the years added versions for PlayStation, Saturn, and Dreamcast. It's one of the late-90s Japanese puzzles with a more distinctive visual identity, thanks to its Egyptian setting, uncommon for the genre.
