Argus is a 1986 Jaleco vertical shooter, with the structure you'd expect from the era: a single ship, waves of enemies cascading up the screen, and power-ups to upgrade weaponry along the way. It was part of a wave of Japanese shooters trying to capitalize on the success of Xevious and company. It's a competent but little-remembered title outside collector circles, overshadowed by other vertical shooters from Jaleco and its competitors that arrived shortly after with more technical flair. A curiosity for anyone tracing the genre's evolutionary line through the eighties.
