Avengers is a side-scrolling street brawler from Capcom with a martial-arts-and-revenge setting, original property of the studio and unrelated to Marvel's identically named comic. It belongs to the company's first wave of beat 'em ups, predating Final Fight setting the genre's standard a few years later.
Today it's remembered mostly for that name coincidence, which tends to cause confusion: it's interesting as a precursor to the street-brawling school Capcom would go on to perfect in the late eighties.
