Bang Bang Ball takes the color-matching puzzle style popularized by Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move and dresses it up with the characters from Mouse Shooter GoGo, another Metro title: two mice — one on a skateboard, the other on skates — compete to rescue their friend kidnapped by cats, clearing the level by launching balls at groups of the same color. It runs on Metro hardware and supports up to two simultaneous players.
It's one of many cousins the Puzzle Bobble boom generated in the mid-90s, with the advantage of its own charismatic character design. It never reached Taito's original popularity, but it keeps that same immediate hook of short, addictive matches.
