Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed by Gazelle -a studio formed by former Toaplan employees after its bankruptcy- and published by Banpresto in 1995. The player chooses among the Sailor Senshi to fight through stages beating enemies, with direct supervision from Naoko Takeuchi, the manga's author, and voices from the anime's original cast, a level of care uncommon in arcade adaptations of the era. It's one of the few games based on Takeuchi's work with an official international release, and a notable rarity within the beat 'em up catalog for being one of the first pieces born from Toaplan's technical legacy after its closure.
