Black Heart puts the player in the shoes of Zil, a warrior riding a dragon who sets out to rescue captive fairies and his beloved Jeanne from the clutches of the dark lord Taranith. Developed by NMK and published by UPL in May 1991, exclusively for the Japanese market, within that tradition of fantasy mounted-combat shooters other studios of the era also explored. It remained unreleased outside Japan for three decades until Hamster rescued it in 2021 for its Arcade Archives series, giving it a second life among players who had never had access to it. It's a piece valued by the fan circle of early-90s Japanese horizontal shooters.
