Captain America and The Avengers, published by Data East in 1991, brings Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, and Vision to arcades to face off against Baron Zemo in a side-scrolling adventure with up to four simultaneous players. It was loosely based on the era's Avengers animated series rather than the original comics. It's one of the first big crossovers between Marvel and the brawler arcade, and although it fell behind Konami's X-Men in popularity, it remains a piece cherished by the audience that grew up with those characters in cooperative side-scrolling format.
