Cyber Tank is a rarity in arcade history: Coreland Technology field-tested it in arcades in August 1988 with poor results, and the project was abandoned before mass production. It offered a two-player cooperative experience with a dual screen, one player as driver and the other as gunner of a futuristic on-rails tank.
For years it was considered lost; only one cabinet survived, whose board ended up lent to the MAME community for preservation. Shortly after, Coreland —burdened with debt— was acquired by Bandai and renamed Banpresto, leaving Cyber Tank as one of the last vestiges of that company under its original name.
