Dangun Feveron breaks with the war or space aesthetic that dominates Japanese vertical shooters and replaces it with disco balls, lit-up dance floors, and a funky rhythm that soaks the whole presentation, without giving up Cave's characteristic fierce difficulty. It came out in 1998, right as the studio was consolidating as a reference of the danmaku genre. It's a rarity even within Cave's own catalog for its visual dressing so different from DoDonPachi or Guwange, and precisely for that it earned a cult place among vertical shooter fans who value the aesthetic offering as much as the challenge.
