Mean 18 Ultimate Golf arrived in 1990, developed by BlueSky Software and published by Atari Corporation, as an adaptation of a golf simulator that had already been well received on computers: the player picks a club, calculates power and direction, and must read each green's slope to hole out in as few strokes as possible. It bet on a more measured simulation compared to the arcade action that dominated the rest of the 7800 catalog. It's one of the few serious golf representatives the console had, designed for an audience looking for something closer to sports simulation than to fast arcade play.
