Black Matrix A-D belongs to the Black-Matrix universe, Flight-Plan's tactical RPG series recognized for its gothic aesthetic and its premise of war between angels and demons, with moral alignment systems that shape how the story unfolds. This Dreamcast entry expands that mythology with a story spun off from the main PlayStation games.
Like almost the entire series, it stayed within the Japanese market. It's a title of interest mostly to those who followed turn-of-the-century Japanese tactical RPGs, a genre that flourished in the 32- and 64-bit generation and that Dreamcast received only sparingly.
