Autobahn Raser IV continued a street-racing series born and raised in Germany, with circuits inspired by the speed-limit-free highway that gives the series its name. Its modest production always kept it far from the console's big arcade racers, aiming at a local audience looking for recognizable cars and settings.
It's a typical example of the budget-game segment that in Europe, and particularly in Germany, sustained its own market of licenses and popular genres, far off the radar of international specialized press.
