Di Gi Charat was born as a promotional mascot for a Japanese anime store chain and ended up becoming its own franchise, with its protagonist Dejiko as one of the most recognizable symbols of moe from that era. This PS2 game brought that colorful, lighthearted universe to an adventure format made for the brand's followers.
It's a Japan-exclusive entry, the kind that only makes sense to those already familiar with the cultural phenomenon behind the character, and today it works as a capsule of a very specific otaku aesthetic from the late 90s and early 2000s.
