Aero Fighters 3, known in Japan as Sonic Wings 3, is the third chapter in Video System's vertical shooter series, distributed outside Japan by SNK on Neo Geo MVS boards. Unlike its predecessors, it swaps modern fighters for WWII planes and adds level routes that branch depending on player choices.
It's a solid representative of the shooter from the Neo Geo's golden age: a roster of strongly characterized pilots, flashy bosses, and that difficulty calibrated to eat up coins. It remains a respectable entry in SNK's arcade console shooter catalog.
