Alien Invaders is one of many early variants of the format Space Invaders popularized, with rows of aliens descending while the player fires from below, sheltered behind barriers. The "preliminary sound" tag reveals that what survives is a development version, with the audio still unfinished. Its value is almost exclusively archaeological: like so many games from the post-1978 boom, it helps illustrate the speed at which the industry varied a winning formula before the market became saturated.
