Aliens takes the aesthetic and cast of James Cameron's sequel and puts them into a side-scrolling run and gun, with up to two players playing as Ripley and Hicks, armed to the teeth against waves of xenomorphs. Konami built the game on its own contemporary arcade hardware, betting on large sprites and staging that closely follows the film's most recognizable settings. It's one more of the wave of movie licenses Konami turned into solid arcade games during those years, and although it doesn't have the prestige of its licensed beat 'em ups like Simpsons or TMNT, it retains that same direct-action pulse that set a school for the genre.
