Assault is a top-down Namco shooter where you drive a futuristic tank capable of rotating its turret independently of the chassis, thanks to an unusual physical control: a joystick that rotates on its own axis. That friction between movement and aiming was the heart of the challenge.
Its specialized control made it hard to port and hard to remember outside its original arcade circuit, but among collectors of cabinets with unique peripherals, it remains a coveted piece.
