Atomic Robo-Kid is a horizontally-scrolling shooter from UPL, released in 1988, whose distinctive feature is that the player's ship physically changes appearance depending on the weapon equipped, something uncommon for the time. The sci-fi setting and demanding difficulty link it to the rest of the late-80s Japanese shmup catalog. It had some reach thanks to its home ports, but in arcades it remained one more piece in UPL's huge shoot 'em up catalog.
