Bad Lands has players racing and shooting simultaneously on a desert circuit populated with hostile vehicles, with an aesthetic drawn directly from Mad Max imagery. Atari Games released it in 1989 as a twist on the combat-racing formula the company had already explored in earlier titles. It remained a secondary piece within Atari Games' late-80s racing catalog, overshadowed by other studio titles, but it's still representative of that 80s trend of mixing speed and vehicular violence against a post-nuclear desert backdrop.
