Basket Ball belongs to the first generation of arcade sports games, when the court was reduced to lines and players to schematic silhouettes, and gameplay was resolved with a handful of simple controls: move, jump, shoot. It's part of the wave of sports titles that followed Pong's success, trying to bring different sports to the screen. Its interest today is mostly archaeological: it helps measure how far arcade sports came from those early schematic experiments to the sophistication that would arrive a decade later.
