Batman brings Tim Burton's 1989 film to the arcade: melee hits with batarangs and gas thrown in during side-scrolling stages, interspersed with first-person chase sections piloting the Batmobile and the Batwing. It was developed by Numega Team, distributed by Atari Games in North America and Europe and by Namco in Japan, and it featured digitized voices from Michael Keaton and music based on Danny Elfman's score. The game finished production in 1990 but only reached arcades in 1991, with a relatively small run of kits. It's one of the most carefully crafted film adaptations of the period, appreciated both by beat 'em up fans and Batman merchandise collectors for its fidelity to the film's look.
