Battle Chopper — Mr. Heli no Daibouken in its native Japan — is a horizontally-scrolling shooter from Irem that debuted in 1987, starring an endearing-looking helicopter with basic shots, missiles, and bombs to blast through enemies and section bosses. Its compact level design and well-tuned difficulty curve made it an arcade hit at the time, with ports to much of Europe's home computers. It's a shooter less cited than the big names from Toaplan or Compile, but with a charm of its own — that big-eyed helicopter — that sets it apart within Irem's late-80s catalog.
