Battle Shark, released by Sega in 1989, puts the player at a submarine's periscope, aiming and firing torpedoes at enemy ships and planes on an on-rails route. The original cabinet included a cockpit-style seat that reinforced the feeling of being in control of a warship. It's representative of the era when Sega bet heavily on deluxe cabinets with themed hardware, a strategy meant to justify the coin's price with a physical experience no home console could replicate.
