Blasteroids is the revision Atari Games made in 1987 of its 1979 classic Asteroids, keeping the premise of blasting space rocks apart with a fighter that rotates in zero gravity, but adding power-ups, three interchangeable ship forms, and the possibility of up to three people playing at once, something unthinkable in the original.
It's a sequel done right: it doesn't renounce the essence of the game that spawned it, but modernizes it with progression layers and a cooperative element that makes it much more social than its predecessor. For anyone who knows Asteroids, it's a natural leap forward with more visual sparkle and more on-screen chaos.
