Block is, as its name indicates, a variant of the genre Breakout inaugurated: destroy a wall of blocks by bouncing a ball with a moving paddle. It's a formula that got replicated with huge frequency on low-budget boards during the eighties, often with no clear authorship credit. Its interest today is more historical than playable: a testament to how widespread this elemental genre was in the arcade's early years, before the industry became more sophisticated.
