Bobble Bobble is one of the many unauthorized variants that circulated riding on the success of Bubble Bobble, Taito's 1986 classic about the dinosaurs Bub and Bob trapping enemies in bubbles. With a barely modified name, this kind of board reproduced the original game —sometimes with small changes— without any license from Taito whatsoever.
It shouldn't be confused with an official sequel or spin-off: it is, in essence, an unauthorized copy that's part of the extensive bootleg culture surrounding the big hits of 80s arcades.
