Bubble Bobble II is the direct sequel to Taito's 1986 platform classic, published in 1994 and again starring the dinosaurs Bub and Bob. It keeps the formula that made the original famous —trapping enemies in bubbles and popping them to clear each screen— with new levels and some pacing tweaks compared to the original entry. It arrived a decade after the first Bubble Bobble, in an arcade scene already dominated by fighting games, and so it went more unnoticed than its predecessor: even so, it retains the charm and two-player cooperation that set a standard in the genre.
