Bubble Pong Pong takes the skeleton that Bubble Bobble popularized —trapping enemies in floating bubbles and popping them to eliminate them— and repeats it with minor variations, a common practice in late-80s and early-90s arcades given Taito's original's overwhelming success.
It doesn't add much of its own to the genre, but it's one more testament to how much Bubble Bobble marked an entire generation of single-screen platformers.
