Carrier Air Wing pits the player against waves of enemy planes, ships, and submarines in missions that literally take off from an aircraft carrier's deck. Capcom applied here the same technical solidity it had been showing in other horizontal shooters of the house.
In Japan it was known as U.S. Navy, and although it didn't reach the fame of other Capcom war titles of the era, it holds up as a solid board within the horizontal military shooter subgenre.
