Cosmo Gang the Video brings to the screen the characters from Cosmo Gangs, a 1990 Namco prize machine exported by Data East: at the controls of the Hyper Beat ship, the player must clear the galaxy of a gang of mischievous aliens, in a fixed-scenario shooter with clear influence from the house's own Galaxian saga. It ran on Namco System 2 hardware.
It was a solid success at the time, praised for its colorful graphics and soundtrack, and over time it added a Super Famicom version and a reissue within the Arcade Archives line. It's a good example of how Namco recycled concepts between its prize machines and its arcade video games.
