Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams is the horizontal shoot 'em up Success released in 1991, starring Cotton, a young witch who flies on a broom alongside a fairy named Silk while casting spells against armies of fantastical creatures, a return to sweet fantasy within a genre dominated by military science fiction.
Its art direction and soundtrack made it one of the most beloved cult shmups of the early 90s, and it spawned a series that kept producing sequels well into the following century.
