Crime Fighters puts up to four simultaneous players in the shoes of urban vigilantes who set out to rescue hostages from the clutches of a criminal organization, in a side-scrolling hand-to-hand-combat game very much in line with what Konami had already been polishing since Renegade. It came out in 1989, at the genre's peak effervescence before Street Fighter II redirected much of arcade production toward one-on-one fighting. It's a solid beat 'em up somewhat overshadowed by other Konami titles of the same era, valued mostly for its four-player support, uncommon for its release year.
