Dokaben is a baseball arcade game Data East released in 1989 based on the popular manga of the same name by Shinji Mizushima, one of the touchstones of the school sports genre in Japan. The game transfers the classic batting-and-pitching formula to the comic's aesthetic and characters. It's a niche piece for Western audiences, but representative of how much late-80s Japanese arcades relied on manga and anime licenses to tell their sports games apart from one another.
