Dr. Toppel's Tankentai —known in English as Dr. Toppel's Adventure— follows an archaeologist traveling through ruins and temples, jumping between platforms and fighting hostile creatures, with that pulp-adventure tone popularized by the era's film and fiction. It's a less remembered production within Toaplan's catalog, better known for its shooters.
It's an interesting example of how Toaplan, before establishing itself as the absolute reference in vertical shooting, also explored other genres with decent, if less influential, results in the medium's history.
