Espgaluda II, developed by Cave in 2005, perfects its predecessor's formula with the Kakusei ('awakening') system, which slows down time and turns nearby enemy bullets into score items while the effect lasts. It's one of the most technical and elegant shooters of the studio's mature period. For bullet hell devotees it's one of the peaks of the genre: a risk-and-reward design that rewards the player who dares to get close to danger instead of just dodging it.
