Das 12. Jahrhundert circulated in the German-speaking part of the Atari scene, one of many niche programs, somewhere between game and historical simulation, that moved by mail and hobbyist fairs without ever reaching wide commercial distribution. Its title refers to medieval Europe in the twelfth century, but there is no reliable data on authorship or exact mechanics that would allow going beyond that reference.
It is, in the best sense, archaeology of the German scene: one of those disks that survived thanks to collectors and public-domain libraries more than through fame of its own. It is worth it for historical curiosity rather than for what it offers as a playable experience.
