Advanced Galactic Empire belongs to the tradition of turn-based space strategy games, with territorial expansion, resource management and conflict between empires, that circulated as shareware or PD among science fiction and strategy fans. There is no reliable data on a studio behind the title beyond its circulation on swap disks.
Like so many games in that circuit, its ambition lay more in systems design than in graphic presentation, made for long, calculated games rather than immediate action. It is remembered, if at all, within the broader universe of empire simulators of the time.
