Battlezone 2000 arrived in 1995, already during the Lynx's commercial twilight, developed by Hand Made Software and published by Atari Corporation: it revisits the first-person tank combat formula with vector-line aesthetics that had made history in arcades in the early eighties, adapting it into short missions designed for the handheld screen. It added new enemies and objectives compared to the original arcade game to justify the decade-jump subtitle. Like much of the Lynx's late catalog, it had a limited print run and today is a piece sought more by collectors than the general public, though it retains intact the appeal of its premise: piloting a tank across a minimalist desert that looks pulled straight out of the 1980 arcade game.
