BrainDead 13 arrived in 1996 courtesy of ReadySoft, the same studio behind Dragon's Lair and Space Ace: an adventure narrated almost entirely through traditional animation, where the player must anticipate the correct move at just the right moment for the protagonist, Lance Galahad, to survive the traps of a Gothic castle populated by monsters. The Jaguar's CD format allowed these sequences to be housed with a fluidity the traditional cartridge couldn't have supported. It's one of the last representatives of the movement-selection animated adventure genre, a style that had had its heyday in mid-80s arcades and found in the Jaguar CD one of its last homes before nearly disappearing entirely.
