Brett Hull Hockey was developed during 1994 and 1995 from the base created by Accolade in collaboration with Ringler Studios, and was shown in playable form at trade fairs like the winter CES of 1995 and that same year's E3, with plans to release it on both cartridge and Jaguar CD. The release date kept getting pushed back until the project was outright canceled. Today it survives only as a prototype preserved by collectors, one of the many hockey and sports games Atari promised for the Jaguar without ever delivering, at a time when the system was already losing the commercial race against PlayStation and Saturn.
