Brett Hull NHL Hockey was developed in 1994 by Accolade and Ringler Studios for the Atari Jaguar — not the Lynx handheld — with the NHL forward as a promotional hook and plans for release on both cartridge and the Jaguar CD add-on. It was shown in playable form at 1995 trade fairs, but licensing problems and the console's commercial slowdown left the project unpublished for the Jaguar's entire lifespan. Only years later did it circulate among collectors thanks to fan reissues — one of them renamed Jaguar Hockey to sidestep the licensing conflict — one of many Jaguar cases where a finished game sat in a drawer due to decisions unrelated to its development.
