Playaround was one of the publishers that, without an Atari license, took advantage of the 2600's boom to release a series of erotic-content games aimed strictly at adult audiences, distributed almost secretly outside the usual sales channels. "Cathouse Blues" follows that same logic: an inherently simple mechanic, subordinated to the graphic content that drove the purchase.
Today it's remembered, more than for its gameplay, as part of the curious — and, seen through today's eyes, fairly uncomfortable — history of the adult side that the unofficial cartridge market had in the early years of home video gaming.
