Fire Fighter, written by Brad Stewart and published by Imagic in 1982 for the Atari 2600, has the player moving a firefighter around a burning building, putting out fires with a hose and extending a fire truck's ladder to rescue the person trapped on each floor, provided that floor is already clear of fire. Good Housekeeping magazine even praised it at the time for proposing to save lives and property instead of destroying them, a rarity within the action catalog of the era. Over time, retrospective criticism has pointed to it as repetitive and lacking a real sense of danger, but it remains an early, curious experiment within Imagic's design philosophy.
