Frogs and Flies, published in 1982, is the Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 adaptation of Frog Bog, the game Mattel had earlier debuted on the Intellivision. The mechanic is minimal: press the button to flick out the tongue and catch flies buzzing near the frog, scoring points with each hit, in one- or two-player matches over a single pond whose sky gradually darkens as time passes. There's no greater ambition than that contemplative stillness, something atypical within a catalog dominated by action and shooting.
